Glass Art
“It’s a passion and a love.”
Welcome to my world of Kiln Formed Glass Art.
My love with glass began with a college class after my kids left home. My first pieces were large bowls. Wonderfully, for my art, I had so much left-over glass I made earrings and pendants. I loved them. And so did the friends and family who received them for Christmas!
After many years as a painter and a graphic designer, I found Kiln Formed Glass Art a refreshing expression. I am captivated exploring arts and crafts, nature and reaction and working with structure and intuition. I love glass and its brilliance, transparency and surprising results.
Raised in Colombia, graduated from Otis Parsons School of Design in Los Angeles and always working as an artist, I married a farmer. We have been organic producers since way before it was cool. In between growing, packing, sharing with the community and world I have continued to produce art.
Working from a studio I’ve created in my garage, I have been prolific in creating art that is functional as well as beautiful.
My husband and I share our home with two large and loving cats and any of our three children returning for short visits.

In General:
Fused glass is the art of taking glass sheets and melting, molding, mixing them in kilns under extreme heat.
Sometimes they are fused simply and often they are fused multiple times to create unimaginable glass to be cut, sanded and shaped into pieces of beauty – bowls, dishes, jewelry and more.
The Fused Glass artist shepherds the process often by being willing to allow reactions to create wholly original combinations. The artist can see the glass and the future of the glass while traveling each of the steps to making their desired pieces.
In Specific:
The process of creating Fused Glass art begins with a special sheet of glass that is cut to shape, then placed in a kiln at high temperatures- sometimes for a couple of days.
Then it is sanded, polished and placed back in the kiln for final shaping.
Many of my creations are from the Cracks & Breaks Collection which shows fragments and disruption and from the “_____”
Dream it.
This Bowl was created using a technique call Zyggi Melt. Here different pieces of glass are placed on a metal bar and heated at a very high temperature. As the glass melts it falls on a form to create a new piece of glass that later is placed back in the kiln to shape again.
Fuse it.
These lovely Red Pendants are made by adding powder, Frit (broken glass in different sizes) and broken glass to a sheet fusing it for hours at a high temperature. Then later cutting it to the desired shape and polishing it.
Create it.
My Aqua Jewelry is one of my favorite reaction creations. This is where the vanilla has copper that reacts with the turquoise and creates a ring around the colors.
Here is a small pendant and earrings that are simple and colorful. A favorite of the artist!
React it.
The Gray Brown pendant is from a block of glass created by adding colors that react with each other. Then they are cut with a table saw picking the most interesting reactions of each sheet.
“Sometimes I make my own sheets of fused glass and other times I will cut from different sheets to create a desired design.”
